DROP IT DALAI — President Barack Obama has 86’ed a scheduled meeting with His Holiness until after he visits China in November. The Dalai Lama made the announcment himself in a press release after meeting with White House officials and getting the word.
The meeting was originally scheduled for September 23rd in Memphis. A new date has not been released for the meeting. The Prez is already in hot water with the ChiComms for a new tariff on tires coming from China and didn’t want to make things worse with China’s top leaders before his trip there in November.
Last year, Beijing cancelled a summit with France after President Sarkozy met with the Dalai Lama, so the communist country is a bit touchy about meeting with the spiritual leader who wants independence for Tibet.
