FAREWELL, PATRICK – Patrick Swayze succumbed to pancreatic cancer last night at age 57. The three-time Golden Glove nominee, famous for his roles in “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost,” died after battling the illness for the past 20 months.
Despite the diagnosis, Swayze continued to work, filming the A&E drama “The Best.” The show was not renewed for a second season. Swayze fought the cancer with optimism and fervent action,
writing an op-ed urging Congress to vote to maximize funding to fight cancer in the economic stimulus package and appearing on “Stand Up to Cancer” TV benefit event. Fans around the world will miss Swayze.
